2006 Game: Aim High
|
|
Breakdown: This game is divided into four sections, all of which are played by six robots (three per alliance). The first 10 seconds are Autonomous mode in which robots must act on their own by using pre-written programs. The winner of this mode (the alliance that scores the most points during the period) starts the second round in defense. The final three rounds are all 40 seconds each in which humans control robots and both humans and robots can attempt to score. You may not score when your robot is in defense, which is one of the three periods depending on on your position after the conclusion of autonomous mode. Between the second and third periods, your robot will switch from defense to offense, or vice-versa. The final period is a free-for-all in which you may either defend or score. Scoring: Three are four ways to score in this game: You may start with up to ten balls loaded in your robot with which to score. Human players may give robots balls throughout the match, recycling them from goals. Penalties: Besides the normal penalties for size, weight, illegal parts, ect., this year there is an offsides penalty if one robot in your alliance is not on the offensive side of the field at any given time. One robot must always remain in the offensive zone and is known as a "Back Bot". There is also a penalty for your robot extending past the maximum height of five feet at any time. The robot may, however, extend to a maximum of five feet in width and height during the match.
